It’s 2021!!! I know many of you have been eagerly anticipating the new year. I ALSO know that while a new year brings new opportunities, it can ALSO bring new fears, new doubts, and new challenges. For many, this is an invitation for self-sabotage.
One of my goals for 2021 is to help YOU get out of your own way, and one of the best ways to take the power away from the unknown is to shed some light on it so we can address it. So tell me…what is one thing you are afraid you might do to sabotage yourself in 2021?
Most people who fail at achieving their goals have ONE thing in common: they lack the right mindset to stay the course! Right now it is easy to be excited for the year ahead and the goals you may have set for yourself. After the newness rubs off and once challenges start to arise? That becomes another story! The thing is, you are JUST as well equipped in March, June, or even December to go after what you want….you just may not be in the right headspace to get it!
So what can you do about that?
Commit fully to what you want.
Write it down, say it our loud. Envision what it will look like both once you achieve it AND along the way.
Figure out what you need to believe in order to make it happen, then do it.
Write down or record the thoughts that you need to believe, then PRACTICE them daily.
Seek the support you need.
Ask for help, find a mentor, hire a coach, and do whatever else you need to do to make sure you are not trying to do it all alone.
Self-sabotage may not seem like much of a concern right now given all the shiny newness of 2021. But that doesn’t mean it is something you should ignore either! Because often it creeps up on us unexpectedly, and by the time we see it coming it’s already here. So as you start this new year strong, plan ahead! Ask yourself: what is ONE thing you can do to avoid self-sabotage in 2021?
