“When we learn how to become resilient, we learn how to embrace the beautifully broad spectrum of the human experience.” - Jaeda Dewalt
I am convinced that resilience is the key to successfully navigating your life. And the best part? ANYONE can cultivate resilience! Want to learn how? Here is something you can do today to get started:
When challenges or difficulties come up, get super-curious about them. Try asking yourself the following questions:
When have I successfully navigated a similar situation in the past?
What experiences, knowledge, or skills can I apply here that will help me?
What can I learn from this experience?
How might this lesson help me in the future?
Where are there opportunities here for me to shine in some way (using or developing a skill, etc.)?
In what ways could this make me stronger?
What will it look like when I come out the other side of this stronger?
By broadening your thinking, you will not only better navigate the situation; you will also start to internalize a deeper understanding of what you are truly capable of. Over time, these instances of successfully and skillfully navigating adversity will help you to discover your own resilience.
I often joke that resilience is my superpower, but it’s true. As a person of faith, I believe that things will work out for me NO MATTER WHAT, even if I don’t see it in the moment. And that resilience has allowed me to navigate difficulties with a sense of clear-headedness, focus, and purpose….rather than with panic, fear, and inaction. The result? Because I trust that things will work out, THEY DO! And no, not in a “manifestation” way (although if that’s your thing, this speaks to that too!) but because by choosing to trust myself and my ability to navigate situations bravely, I create the space for it to happen. Not sure what the most resilient version of yourself looks like? I’d love to chat with you and help you figure it out! Just comment below if you’d like to connect😊
